The Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Commitment to Excellence
At Glencoe, we've built our reputation on delivering responsive, relevant
educational materials that teachers and students can trust, year after year.
Throughout the publishing process, we have always taken extreme care to
ensure that the materials our customers receive reflect the most accurate,
up-to-date information available. In our efforts to ensure absolute
accuracy, we have always relied on the expertise of respected authors and
talented content specialists, fact-checkers, and proofreaders. Over the
years, their painstaking work has earned us high marks for accurate content.
But now, the Internet gives us the power to take our goal of delivering
"error-free" textbooks to an even higher level. Through our Web site,
www.glencoe.com, we now have the ability to provide updates, edits, corrections, or incorporate new information into our educational materials as soon as possible.
Unprecedented accuracy is only one part of our Commitment to Excellence.

demands of a constantly changing classroom. At Glencoe, we have dedicated a
great deal of time and talent to developing tools that can help you meet your

The Publishing Process - A Brief Introduction
From initial concept to actual printing, it can take from three to five years
for a new textbook to be introduced into a classroom. Through every step of
the publishing process, we follow a multi-step content assessment program to
ensure that every component of our books are as accurate and up-to-date as
possible.
1. Publishing Plan
During the preliminary planning stage, our primary goal is
to identify the needs of our audience and determine how to best meet those
needs.
2. Research/Planning
At this stage, we analyze national and state standards, identify authors,
and develop a plan for the student edition and major ancillaries.
3. Manuscript Development
As the manuscript is being written, our experts continually edit and
revise the content.
4. Page Production
While the book moves into the layout stage and the artwork and photos are put
into place, authors and consultants continue to review and edit the
manuscript.
5. Film Production
Revisions continue throughout the proof stage.
6. Printing and Binding
As the books are finally printed and assembled, editors
continue to review the book for accuracy.
7. Edit Release
Books are inspected and then sent to authors, consultants,
and fact checkers for further review.
