Researching trees on the Internet
Imagine that you are employed by a city in its department of Urban Planning. You have just been handed an assignment by the city manager. The assignment? Research the type of tree that would be most suitable for planting along the streets of your community.
Preparation

Use the Internet to find different trees that would be suitable for planting in you community.

Objectives
In this BioLab, you will:

  • Research the characteristics of five different trees.
  • Use the Internet to collect and compare data from other students.
  • Conclude which trees would be most suitable for planting in your community.

Procedure
1. Print a copy of the data table.

2. Pick five trees that you wish to research. Note: Your teacher may provide you with suggestions if necessary.

3. Go to Data Sources under Preparation to find links that will provide you with

information for this BioLab. Note: You are not limited to the tree suggestions provided. If a different tree appeals to you, research it instead.

4. Record the information in your data table.
