Exploring Career Clusters and Skills Information
How Did I Do? Part B: Investigating
Career Options
Directions: Use the checklist below to help you proofread
and correct your completed Job Fact Sheet.
Step 1:
Be sure that you have listed the title of the job, centered, and bolded
it (See the first line of the example Job Fact Sheet, "Marine Architect").
Verify the spelling of the job title.
Step 2:
Could someone reading your job description understand what the job
is?
Step 3:
Do you list 1 of the 16 career clusters and explain why the job you've
chosen best fits that particular cluster?
Step 4:
Do you list computer and keyboarding skills that are needed for the
job or that would help a person do that job? Have you thought of all
the ways a computer may help?
Step 5:
Did you find the education required for the job and list it? You may
have needed to include more than one type of degree or training.
Step 6:
Do you list salary information and explain where you learned the information?
You may want to talk about salary by listing a range or mentioning beginning
and later salaries.
Step 7:
Do you talk about local job prospects? Do you explain how likely it
is that someone doing the job you want to do may get a job in the area?
Do you explain where you learned your information?
Step 8:
Once you have revised your Job Fact Sheet information, use your computer's
spell checker and correct any errors it finds. Be careful about using
the computer's suggestions for names. Spell checkers often mark names
as errors because the names are not common words.
When you have finished checking your Job Fact Sheet, gather it and
the other materials you used in the Let Me Try It!: Part B activity.
That would include:
(a) the list of five to ten jobs you thought you may enjoy
doing in your future working career
(b) any research notes you made as you found answers for questions
(a) through (f)
(c) any drafts of your Job Fact Sheet
Use a paper clip or staple the materials togetheras your teacher
directs you. Place the Job Fact Sheet on top and place your name at
the bottom of it (unless your teacher tells you differently). Hand in
all materials to your teacher (unless he/she offers other directions).
